Hello everyone! I hope your day is going well. Last month, I saw a post on Instagram about modeling for Lyric Symone + Co. I was curious so I clicked on the account and saw that it was a business that was just starting up and located in Detroit, Michigan. After reading about the business, I like the concept of the brand promoting self-love. So I decided to reach out asked to be a model for them. Know that I am not a model but I do like modeling for fun and taking pictures.
They got back to me and they wanted me to model for them. Due to Covid-19, the place they wanted to book for the photoshoot was closed. Instead, they opt-in for all models to do an at-home photo shoot. Which was nice and it gave me ideas on where to take the photos around the house. After deciding, I decided to take the photos by the window in the living room because of the natural lighting.
What does self-love mean to you?
I’m never the one to question myself what self-love means. Honestly, I never really thought of it. Although, the meaning of self-love can sometimes be hard to identify with most people.
About two years ago, I told myself that I’m going to focus on myself. Instead of waiting to have time, I made time to do the things I wanted to do and live life being who I want to be. When I set time aside for myself, I was able to do so many things like solo traveling, work at a live music concert, and meeting new people along the way.
So if you ask, self-love to me means being able to be you and doing the things you love to do and not for someone else’s happiness. To be able to take care of yourself first before worrying about others. To be able to love yourself for who you truly are. It’s ok to be selfish and give yourself time to go after your dreams. No judgments. Only self-love.
